OVCHARENKO presented a new personal exhibition of Mikhail Dolyanovsky - "Rats".
The artist is one of the late graduates of the post-Soviet realistic school of painting. However, Dolyanovsky is trying to reinvent it, pushing the limits of one painting: alternating techniques, textures, plans, figures. The artist is able to arbitrarily connect to any fragment of a huge tradition - behind the creative guidelines of the new generation, and Dolyanovsky, among them, refers not to the big opera themes of German neoexpressionism, but rather to the lyricism and mystery of the Italian transavantgarde.
In all of Dolyanovsky's paintings there is one thing in common - the muscular effort of the characters, well known as the indispensable content and plastic rhetoric of monumental painting.
At the same time, what is happening on the canvases deliberately left unsaid, according to the artist, "the characters are quite abstract, it is something average, spreading society. The plots of his works are multidimensional, and the viewer becomes the author. Dolyanovsky takes the painting out of two-dimensional space, elevating it to the degree of a cube, not only in the space of the canvas, but also in the space of the gallery, and in the space of each viewer.
