The ready-made world of the future from robo bureau
On December 5, the a—s—t—r—a Gallery of Modern Art presented a solo exhibition by artist Gosha Ostretsov, participant of the Venice Biennale (2009) and creator of the VGLAZ community of artists.
Gosha Ostretsov's new solo exhibition will feature works produced within the framework of the "ColLab" program of the workshops of the Vaults Art Production Center of the GES-2 House of Culture.
«Oh, the wonderful old world!
Look to the left, look to the right. The avant-garde is a hundred years old, and it is still the avant-garde. The unconditional heritage of world culture is the Russian avant—garde. What is preserved in history better and more reliable than art? Scratch the avant-garde and both Renaissance and Gothic will look through it...
The artist Gosha Ostretsov scratches and scratches the geometric shapes and pure colors of suprematist compositions and shows the viewer the interior and lining of the avant-garde, adds patina to century-old ideas. With a masterful movement, he transforms design into works of art. All crafts acquire artistic significance before any practical purpose. Textiles, ceramics, furniture, everything that VKHUTEMAS and Bauhaus intended to transfer from art to everyday life, makes a reverse turn in Ostretsov's hands. Artistic value first of all. In his view, the physical world is controlled by the artist. The issues of the world order in Ostretsov's cosmogony are provided to the artist. Lightning is his symbol. Prometheus, who stole the fire of knowledge, is his hero. All achievements of science and technology — robots, AI — are subordinated to the demiurge, sanctified by his artistic idea, taste and style. Style is a person, Buffon said. In Gosha Ostretsov's world, style is God. The ideas and facts of history are transformed by style.
The audience is presented with the phantasmagoric world of the artist's ideas. Ostretsov's favorite and constant heroes are robots, robotic members of the "new government" at the same time objects and subjects of this world. A relic is kept in the ROBOBURO — the leather apron of the chief master, incognito, the unnamed main creator. On the apron, the emblem is a zigzag of lightning, in which Gosha puts many meanings: the fire of knowledge, a flash illuminating the creator's intellect, additional light, bestowed from above, extending the daylight for art.
The repository of the archive of documents and at the same time a lamp in the form of the same zipper is a repeating ornament on the clothes of robots. There is a whole collection of clothes in human and miniature, doll size. "Haute Couture" is the witty name of this collection. Ceramic reliefs with everyday scenes from the life of robots, tables, chairs, table lamps, clocks, barometers can be equally in demand in human life and in the future world of artificial intelligence robots. The aesthetics of suprematism in a modern context is both recognizable and avant-garde for the modern viewer. The sculpture "roboscreps" is a mechanical lamp in the form of a family of robots that repeats the human family, made using modern technologies and materials. The humanization of robots, the artist's attempts to introduce AI into creativity, offer the viewer to immerse themselves in the real life of the future imagined by the artist. And artists, as the experience of mankind shows, have visionary properties.
ROBOBURO uses AI to calculate ideal creative spaces based on the principle of radiant existence of the avant-garde artist Larionov. His direction of luchism is taken as a basis. Using the algorithms of the Russian avant-garde a century ago, which changed our reality, AI continues to change it in the vertical space of thinking.
ROBOBURO is a bridge between the virtual consciousness of AI and the reality of the material world.
