On December 15, the second part of the annual project a-s-t-r-a-open - a series of group exhibitions of Russian artists, during which the gallery space becomes the venue of the artist’s institutional debut, will open in the Gallery testing new ideas and a platform for artistic dialogue.
With the exhibition a-s-t-r-a open vol.2 gallery continues its main line of activity - discovery of new names, experimentation and verification of hypotheses.
a-s-t-r-a open shows that it makes sense to send out a portfolio and improve your artist statement. 365 days a year on the site open call, it is among the received applications and selected works for the group exhibition project, twice a year: in winter and summer.
Their authors may be famous masters with whom the gallery has not previously cooperated, or young artists for whom the exhibition will be the first.
The works of Maria Gruzdeva, Vasilisa Lebedeva, Polina Koval, Oksana Afanasieva, Georgy Chaushba, Maria Hegay, Kirill Doeshvili, Masha Shishova, Irina Murashova, Igolyanova, Goreilova, Evryanova, Evryanova and Evryanova will be presented at a-s-t-r-a open vol.2.
About Artists:
The main opening of a-s-t-r-a open vol.2 - Maria Gruzdeva, a photographer and multimedia artist whose projects have already been shown in major museums, galleries and festivals in Russia, Europe and Asia, including Mori Art Museum in Tokyo (Japan) and Rentres d'Arles (France). Maria’s works are in the collections of the National Museum of Wales (United Kingdom), the Photography Museum in Tbilisi (Georgia), as well as in private collections in Russia, Great Britain and America.
Vasilisa Lebedeva is a bright graduate of «Open Studios» «Winzavod» of this season, a modern interdisciplinary artist, co-founder of the creative community «Art.Boloto». For Vasilisa it is important to create a field of multi-level interaction of the viewer with the work, which is realized in participatory installations. When working on the sculpture, she uses found objects, natural materials, embroidery, new technologies, as well as plaster, plastic mass, silicone, ceramics, redi-made.
Oksana Afanasieva is a graduate of A.L.Stieglitsa Academy. and free workshops MMOMA, participant of various exhibitions and residences, in a separate room of the gallery will present the offside project "Contact" - an installation of bright red intertwining figures soaring in weightlessness.
