Winzavod.Kids x Open Studios of the CCA Winzavod

12 February 2026
Since February, a new program for children and teenagers fr om 6 to 14 years old will start in the workshop "Modern Art is simple!".

Participants of the program will be able to look into real workspaces — the Open Studios of the Contemporary Art Center, get acquainted with contemporary artists, learn about their methods and create their own works using the same approaches and techniques.

How each lesson is structured:

A visit to the studio: We get acquainted with the works and creative environment of the invited artist. Analysis and discussion: Together we understand the ideas, meanings and techniques that the artist uses. Idea development: We discuss our impressions, look for associations and assemble a mudboard for future work. Practice: We create our own work, inspired by what we have seen and heard.

Duration: 60-90 minutes.
Cost: 1,500 rubles.
Age of participants: 6-14 years old.

Katya Nikitina
Charcoal is an ancient material for instant impressions. They caught sketches of Leonardo da Vinci's ideas, Michelangelo's bodily power, Degas' lightness of movement.

He gets dirty, rubs off, breathes — and in this disobedience lives his strength and volume.

Katya Nikitina works with coal as a mystery material. Her graphic series are mysterious shadows "fr om the black house", wh ere a line and a spot create a mystical, almost playful world of silhouettes and ghosts.

The participants of the master class will become secret observers: through an imaginary window they will catch silhouettes of the outside world, transferring them to paper using charcoal.

What they will learn: to feel the plastic and the air in the graphics, to work with tone and contrast, to create an atmosphere and a story through the shadow.

Bottom line: everyone will create a series of charcoal sketches and become a co-author of a large collective canvas-a game.

21 February, 13:00
Arina Shabanova

Every work by Arina Shabanova is a found message. The artist works with the materials of the surrounding world — stones, shells, branches — turning them into characters-guides to an inhuman world hidden fr om us.

At the master class, participants sel ect one found object and give it a character, a story and a voice. A character is born fr om a simple object, for which a picturesque portrait is created. In one of the lesson options, the characters go beyond the sheet and become three-dimensional objects assembled from found materials.

The trick is to find messages in ordinary things and turn them into characters.
What they will learn: to see the potential of the material, to invent images and stories, to combine observation and imagination.
Bottom line: everyone will carry away their own guide character - a three—dimensional or picturesque image created from found materials.

Oksana Afanasyeva
Collage is a tool for assembling a new reality and personal mythology. It allows you to reshape familiar images, creating your own future from fragments of the past.

Oksana Afanasyeva uses this principle in her ceramic works, connecting fragments into new, voluminous stories. Her method is the alchemy of memory and material.

At the master class, the participants, inspired by the artist's technique, will work with instant photographs. From the photo fragments cut from their own photographs, everyone will assemble their own three-dimensional collage myth.

What they will learn: to rethink personal archives, to build a story through the connection of disparate elements, to work with composition and volume.
Bottom line: a personal mythological object assembled from fragments of its own reality.

Artur Krivoshein
Abstract painting is a controlled improvisation wh ere every step is a conscious choice of color, shape, and gesture. For Artur Krivoshein, the process of creating a work is a series of decisions that follow internal logic and emotion.

The participants of the master class will immerse themselves in this method. Based on one of their memories, they will assemble an abstract collage, trying to convey its essence — an emotional image. All decisions about composition, color spots, and rhythm will be subordinated to this original idea.

What they will learn: to translate emotions and memories into an abstract form, to make informed artistic decisions, to control color and composition to express an idea.
Bottom line: abstract collage work, which is a visual representation of a personal memory.

Tim Illarionov
Visual diaries are a way to notice and preserve everyday life: funny situations, strange details, snippets of conversations, and memes.

This is how many artists worked, from Paul Klee and David Hockney to modern illustrators and comic book authors, for whom the diary became a space of observation, reflection and honest conversation with themselves.

In his works, Tim Illarionov captures the present day without striving for "beauty" or perfect drawing — balancing between primitiveness and careful observation. What matters is not how it is drawn, but what is noticed.

At the master class, participants learn how to turn an ordinary day into a visual story: they depict fragments of impressions, situations and emotions, and then assemble them into an application - their own visual diary.

What they will learn: to notice the important things in everyday life, to express thoughts and emotions through an image, to collect a personal story without fear of mistakes or "wrong" drawings.

Bottom line: everyone will take away a visual diary of one day — a personal story compiled from impressions, observations and images.

Samuel

Artist Samuil transforms his observations and personal history into recognizable images, as if assembling new characters and entire worlds from the details of reality.

During the workshop, participants try their hand at being creators and inventing their own character. Will they be a forest spirit, a wizard, or a funny gnome? Based on their character's personality and habits, the children design a dwelling for their character and build it using various materials and techniques, from cardboard to embossing.

What they will learn: devise an architectural form based on the character's personality, work with texture and silhouette, and master basic embossing techniques.
Result: Each participant takes home a castle-like dwelling for their character, created using the foil embossing technique.

March 28, 1:00 PM

Irina Zus'kina

Artist Irina Zus'kina loves to combine the familiar with the unexpected—for example, by combining classical painting with modern materials and techniques in her work.

In this master class, participants will look at the familiar world from an unusual perspective. We'll use the limited space of a car mirror as our starting point. We'll create a pictorial image on the mirror surface: we'll depict the view from the car, including houses, trees, and windows, and transfer it to the material.

What you'll learn: see familiar things from a new perspective, work with the mirror surface as a canvas, and create a composition that connects image and reality.
Result: Each participant will create an unusual work on a mirror surface, wh ere the reflection becomes a partial artistic image.

April 11, 1:00 PM

Anna Lapshinova

In this workshop, participants will become familiar with Anna Lapshinova's graphic series dedicated to plants and try their hand at drawing with the same attentiveness. We will work on canvas and fabric, using charcoal, brushes, and angled pencils. The goal is to create an image that resembles either a page from an old encyclopedia with dried plants or the silhouettes of leaves and branches on a foggy window.

During the process, it is important to understand the rhythm of the lines, the lightness of the touch, and the translucency of the images—just as the artist does in her works.

What you will learn: to notice beauty and detail in ordinary settings, and to work with charcoal on fabric, adding lightness and transparency to the image. Outcome: Each participant will create their own graphic work with plant or urban motifs, executed using a technique consisting of encyclopedia pages or drawings on glass.

April 18, 1:00 PM

Alexander Krylov

Artist Alexander Krylov loves video games and often uses familiar game elements in his work.

During the workshop, participants will work with a lifeless gaze. Participants can bring their own or find one among the provided materials. The goal is to transform it into a character, separating personality from "life." We will work in mixed media: acrylic on cardboard plus foil for unexpected facts and details.

And, of course, each character develops their own school of life—a reminder that even the simplest object can hide a whole story.

What they will learn: seeing character in ordinary things, working in mixed media, combining acrylic and foil, and creating visual details that bring an image to life. Bottom line: every participant is a creator
