OPENING DAY EVENING: Ten new exhibitions in resident galleries

11 December 2024
The pop/off/art Gallery celebrates its 20th anniversary with the anniversary exhibition "Reflections". The project was curated by Sergey Popov, founder and co—owner of the pop/off/art gallery. The project brought together more than 20 works by 15 authors who address the phenomenon of mirrors. The exhibition features works by Yuri Albert, Irina Korina, Pavel Pepperstein, Vladimir Kupriyanov, Evgeny Granilshchikov, and others. XL Gallery presented Roman Sakin's solo exhibition "Beauty in Space". The project is dedicated to traditions and rules in contemporary art — unwritten, but binding. Roman Sakin focuses on the present and future of the art industry, as well as those who live by its laws and are inextricably linked to it. VLADEY Space presents a group exhibition of monumental works of art “BIG IN RUSSIA". The exhibition features works by OVCHARENKO Gallery artists: Mikhail Dolyanovsky, Alexey Kallima, Egor Koshelev, Vlad Kulkov, Pavel Pepperstein, Inal Savchenkov, Kolya Sadovnik, Maria Serebryakova, Leonid Tskhe. "The name of the exhibition "BIG IN RUSSIA" refers to Alphaville's super hit Big in Japan, recorded in 1984 and a famous expression emphasizing the importance of the place where you became a popular, GREAT ARTIST. Russian authors may be invisible on foreign platforms, but for us they are real stars." HSE ART GALLERY presents the group project "Looking at the Moon". This exhibition is a continuation of a series of exhibitions dedicated to screen arts: original cinema and video art, game graphics and animation are combined in one exhibition space and a single semantic field. For the exhibition "Looking at the Moon", works were selected that focused on the ephemeral nature of the moving image, its poetic depth and the possibilities that the screen image opens up today. Sergey Ovseikin's exhibition "Emotionally colored" opened at 11.12 GALLERY. The project summarizes the artist's reflections over the past few years on the events of the outside world and their impact on the inner world. The key tag, emotion, turns out to be included in the title of the exhibition here, unambiguously communicating the glue that brings together the disparate parts of the artist's life and his project. Totibadze Gallery presents the exhibition "Tanya Sergeeva's Kunstkamera". Reflecting on the collection of rarities and outlandish objects, Tanya Sergeeva explains: "My Art Gallery is what surrounds me and what I create. There is an external and internal museum. The external is the objective world, the heroes of my still lifes are things, toys, dishes. The inner one is the feeling of what you saw." The Triangle Gallery presents the first solo exhibition in Russia by artist Kik Guo "Metamorphoses of shining Shadows". The subtle picturesqueness of the artist's works is born at the junction of two visual traditions that are in continuous dialogue: Chinese and European. Kikai Guo's works are deep meditations on topics such as life, existence, and disappearance. Unconsciously made-up images in which the past and present merge are transformed into his canvases filled with mysterious figures and abstract forms that always have a deep iconographic meaning. The BIS ART GALLERY has opened a group exhibition "#your_increeny_friend". The exhibition presents works exploring sincerity and relationships in the field of virtual communications. The authors reveal the topic of self-presentation and the search for recognition in the media space, as well as the critical perception of these processes from the outside. Timofey Smirnov's personal exhibition "Strokes and Lines" has opened at FINEART GALLERY. The exhibition, made up of works from the last 10-15 years, demonstrates not only the confidence of the hand and the creative handwriting, extremely naturalistic, philosophical and multi-layered. She outlines the portrait of the artist and permanent curator of the FINEART gallery with strokes. With this exhibition, Timofey Smirnov and the gallery celebrate the 20th anniversary of their first solo project. Generative Gallery presented the installation exhibition ROTOR– an immersive experiment by radugadesign studio. Like many radugadesign installations, ROTOR works with human perception of light, sound, space and time. By launching a massive rotating mechanism with integrated sound and light sources, radugadesign artists explore the propagation of waves in space and achieve a uniquely personalized experience for each viewer.
