Big Biodynamic Saturday

The first biodynamic winery UPPA Winery was founded in 2006. The farm is located at an altitude of 350-400 meters above sea level, on the Tithonian limestones of the southeastern slope. These are ideal conditions for the production of elegant, long-aged wines. In 2021, UPPA Winery received the first organic certificate for wine and vineyards in the Russian Federation. UPPA Winery currently produces 60,000 bottles of wine per year. UPPA WINERY has two terroirs — Nummulite and Polati vineyards — these are 2 slopes, each with its own characteristics. Cler Nummulite: The slope is named after prehistoric marine organisms whose shells can be found between the vines. This slope was once an ocean floor. Cler Polati: the slope faces southeast and warms up with the first rays of the morning sun, which is what the locals called it - "polati" — the upper, hot tier of the furnace. There is a complete abandonment of irrigation in the farm, which stimulates the root system of the vines to strive as deeply as possible towards the mother rock. As a result, we get smaller and more concentrated berries and wines that are mineral, subtle and multifaceted. Grapes grown according to the principles of biodynamics have a different chemical composition, a bright taste and aroma of berries, and a serious potential for the quality of future wine. Therefore, UPPA Winery wines have a pronounced terroir, energy and strength.
