Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art is opening a space for independent theater and music. Fr om June 26 to August 2, the new project Zeleno-Molodo will present indie music bands and theater groups at the summer stage. 

"The Zeleno-Molodo project is a conscious decision to go beyond contemporary art and into theater and music, wh ere there is a lot of experimental content and it is important to support it. Similar to the Winery's Open Studios, we have curated a program with experts in theater and music. We are providing an opportunity for independent and talented theaters and musicians to showcase their work in a new location and format, with our professional involvement. 
For the arts, this is an experiment and an opportunity for dialogue with related fields, and for visitors, it is an opportunity to be the first to see the future of theater and indie music," said Sofya Trotsenko, founder of the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art.

All participants have been selected by experts. The theater program is curated by Grigory Zaslavsky, rector of GITIS, Alexander Tsypkin, writer, Pavel Rudnev, theater critic, and Eva Indenbaum, project curator. Music is performed by Vadim Chuvashov, the founder and editor-in-chief of the Rodnoy Zvuk blog.

The program is opened by Zeleno-Molodo's performance "Notes on the Cuffs" by the theater association "VNE...THEATER" based on Mikhail Bulgakov's autobiographical novel, directed by Grigory Yuzhakov. 33 people are on stage at the same time, constantly moving. Bright circus performances are intertwined with the plot, and musicians from the Bolshoi Theater and the Conservatory play live instruments. This is a reflection story by young Bulgakov about how to preserve yourself when everything around you is falling apart.

The PROJECT NUMBER TWO association will present the performance "The Tale of Lost Memory" - a completely original story by the author Artem Sharomov, directed by Irakli Pataridze. The creative team united actors of the Bronnaya Theatre, graduates of GITIS and the Moscow Art Theatre School, producers, artists and musicians. The stranger from the mirror steals from an ordinary person everything he knew about himself and the world. The main character embarks on a journey through the city in search of an answer to the question "Who am I?" and encounters people who either help or confuse him. 

O. L. Kudryashov's workshop at GITIS will present a Tribute LP performance by director Ernest Matorkin. Five actors play live instruments, using music as a universal language. The guitar, drums, violin, bass guitar, and piano explore how music is transformed in live performances and becomes a bridge between people.

The independent project ӨY THEATRE will present the play "P.O.L.E." (She Just Loved Him) directed by Askar Galimov. The troupe consists of graduates from the workshop of Evgeny Kamenkovich and Dmitry Krymov at GITIS. "P.O.L.E." is a story about three centenarian women who go to meet their husbands returning from the war. It is a reflection on eternity, death, and why great love is stronger than death. The play was awarded the Moskovsky Komsomolets Theatre Award in the category "Best Diploma Play".

The stage will also feature the NEMEKITUPA project with the play "Two Ladies Heading North". Actresses and authors Yulia Ilyina (BDT) and Milana Vladykina (SHALOM Theatre) have previously worked with improvisation and texts in the format of a chamber laboratory. "Two Ladies Heading North" is a tragicomedy about the love of sisters, death, and the loneliness that can be shared. The story is told in the language of black comedy and sharp clowning.

The independent project NETUPI will present the reading play "Star Ticket" based on the novel by Vasily Aksyonov. This is an association of graduates from the Moscow Art Theatre School. The play retains the lightness of the reading format, but has transformed into a full-fledged production. Director Viya Geka talks about youth, finding one's own path, the first experience of growing up, and the need to fight for one's freedom against one's own fear. 

In July, the theater program will also feature children's performances for all ages.

On August 1 and 2, a two-day festival of independent music will be held as part of the Zeleno-Molodo project. The music program is sponsored by Rodnoy Zvuk, one of the key resources of the Russian indie scene. Since 2015, Rodnoy Zvuk has been bringing together bands from all over the country, representing a new generation of indie music creators and performers.
