HSE ART GALLERY opens its second exhibition space in the Winzavod Central Exhibition Center with the exhibition “Everything Everywhere All At Once”. The exposition of the first exhibition in the new location includes works by students and graduates of three educational areas of the School of Design of the National Research University Higher School of Economics: “Contemporary Art”, “Fashion” and “Object Design”. The exhibition “Everything Everywhere All At Once” presents a panorama of the generation of twenty-somethings - the first generation born and fully formed in the new millennium. The title refers to the Oscar-winning film by Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan “Everything Everywhere and at Once” about the fate of the multiverse - it is such a bizarre, crazy, surreal world that young artists and designers create at the exhibition. More than 40 students and graduates of the School of Design of the National Research University Higher School of Economics. The curators are Daria Pyrkina, a teacher of curatorial practices at Contemporary Art, Anzor Kankulov, Head of Fashion, and Maria Stepanova, Head of Object and Industrial Design. Surrealism has turned from a description of movement in art to a synonym for the phantasmagoric in life. The feeling of irrationality, loss of management and control, being in a flow or even a whirlwind of events in some ways relates the period between the world wars, which gave the world surrealism, and today. Thus, the construction of the exhibition alludes to the famous “street” with bizarre mannequins at the 1938 Surrealist exhibition in Paris. Our world, the world of the mid-2020s, is undergoing tectonic shifts, both technological and geopolitical. Shakiness and instability, the need to constantly change and learn new things, to train flexibility and adaptability are at the heart of many projects by young authors. On the other hand, in this world, the fragility and vulnerability of the human mind and flesh are more acutely felt, and this too becomes a subject of reflection. The participants of the exhibition translate their picture of the world, create a model of their habitat based on the principle of meta-universe and consolidate in it objects that match their worldview - changeable, hypertrophied and hybrid.
