OVCHARENKO presents the exhibition North-7, a legendary art group from St. Petersburg. After the SHARPS-7 project in the gallery in 2018 and a solo exhibition and getting into the collection of M HKA Museum in Antwerp in 2019, the artists are back with a new project!
The St. Petersburg art group North-7, well-known and popular among viewers in the capital city, is preparing a spring present for them - a new exhibition-installation, which will be created with the participation of artists, each of them with their individual handwriting and recognizable authorial style: Anna Andrzhievskaya, Pyotr Dyakov, Vadim Kondakov, Alexander and Elizaveta Tsikarishvili, Leonid Tskhe, Ivan Chemakin, Vadim Mikhailov, Nestor Engelke.
Artists from the city on the Neva traditionally proceed from the socio-natural realities with which their city is massively associated. These are swamps, bogs, swamps with their fumes and smells, especially evident during the spring floods. In addition, the collective interest of the North-7 group lies in folk art, folklore in its living, non-museum version. In the deep respect for the traditions and careful study of folk customs in the paradigm of the present day is the principle of the creation of the exposition "The Way of Your Flood".
The central space of OVCHARENKO will be allocated for a series of objects made of a wide range of materials: ceramics, wood, metal and fabric. The works will be united by a peculiar "high" presentation with the help of exposition pole construction.
In another space a basic construction-platform will be presented, referring to the concept of home, domovina, the environment of eternal habitation. This is one of the variants of a new ontology - a global and detailed creative generalization of humanitarian knowledge, which the northern community of artists presents to the artistic circle of the capital city.
