Alina Utrobina
the engine. camera. light
In the a—c—t—r—a gallery, Alina Utrobina's personal project is being presented. The main language of her art is a combination of digital photography and easel graphics.
About the project
A button, an eyelash, a sole, a sleeve, a toy. The eye wanders over the surface of the painting (how to define what Alina is doing?), while she looks with her own eye and asks many questions. The depicted objects and silhouettes are self-evident, on the one hand, they are separated from each other, but, however separate they may be, their forms are brought together. Against the backdrop of a rather conventional landscape, strange actions unfold in a timeless field. Each plot and detail is both random and logical. The straight line of the road leading into the endless distance; anthropomorphic figures in oversized clothes, distancing themselves from the environment; impersonal girl's glances calling into the void - are sketches of the ubiquitous delirium, echoing the general confusion and the hustle and bustle of time. The prototype of all works is a photograph, which Utrubina dashingly uses as the basis of iconography and techniques: close-up shooting, magnification or fragmentation of the surface. And she processes them from the perspective of printmaking, a skill she possesses in perfection, which is expressed in the process of applying paint to fabric, a process marked by intellectual and bodily sensitivity. Alina shifts the focus from the possible photographic realism that forms the outer level of the image to the repressed depth that lies beyond images and language.
