Open Studios

On July 15, the new season of Winzavod's Open Studios began. Every day, except for Mondays, visitors can freely explore the Studio space and meet the participants, their artistic practices, and their works. 

Artists of the 14th season: Yana Arbuzova, Olga Belyakova, Katya Kosova, Morra Kozlitina, Dmitry Pechurin, Kristina Pursina, Lyubov Remizova, Alyona Troitskaya, and Konstantin Chirkov.

"The leitmotif of the 14th season will be the opposition of strength and weakness. Considering this polar pair in a broad sense, artists will have to reflect on the nature of a work of art that struggles for our attention between the expressiveness of a professionally calibrated, strong gesture and the risky fragility of a sincere feeling", said Alexey Korsi, mentor of the 14th season of Open Studios.

The expert council includes: Sofia Trotsenko, founder of the CCA Winzavod, Polina Mogilina, art critic, chief curator of the Triumph Gallery, mentor of the 11th season of Open Studios, art critic, mentor of 1-5 seasons of Open Studios, lecturer at the Joseph Bakstein Institute of Contemporary Art Andrey Parshikov, сurator, Director of the Serene Gallery Alexander Blanar, artist, founder of the Quiet Studio Artem Filatov.

About the mentor

Alexey Korsi is an artist and curator. He graduated from the Moscow Architectural Institute (2009) and the Rodchenko Moscow School of Photography and Multimedia (2013, course on project photography by Vladimir Kupriyanov). He has been nominated for the Innovation Prize (2012, 2013, 2018) and the Kandinsky Prize (2013, 2017, 2021), and won the Innovation Prize in the New Generation category (2020).

About the project

Open Studios have been operating since 2017 and included in the strategic direction New Names. The project combines the principles of a workshop, a residence and an art school based on one of the leading Russian art institutions, Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art. Residents of the Open Studios work with a mentor, receive personal professional advice, participate in collective projects, artist talks and master classes. 
 
For the artists selected by the expert council, participation in the project is an opportunity to take the first steps in the creative and commercial fields under the guidance of experienced professionals. For the audience, Open Studios are an opportunity to observe the process of creating works of art. For collectors, Open Studios are a chance to get to know future stars even at the stage of their formation.
