On January 17th the Triangle gallery will open the solo show by one of the most world-renowned Russian artists working in the field of technology art, Dmitry Morozov, better known by his pseudonym ::vtol::.

Sync, from synchronization in the exhibition’s name on one hand reflects on attempts to reach co-cycling in his objects, synchronicity and polyrhythm between them, on the other hand, represents the paradigm of his artistic practice. “[Morozov’s] project doesn’t imply a dualistic removal of a person from a device, – comments on his work theorist and curator Dmitry Bulatov, – “Morozov’s attention in focused on the inseparability of human and inguman” [1]. Curator and researcher Olga Remnyova call Morozov “critical engineer” to whom machinery is a way to describe interactions between devices, living and physical objects, powers, systems and nets. Hence, irrationally used machines for him enforce and enlarge human cognitive systems.

The principal part of the show is a kinetic, electromagnetic sound installation Guest, dedicated to the Sikhote-Alin meteorite, which fell in the Far East in 1947 According to the artist's concept, the cyclical system models the moment the meteorite “arrived” on earth – an extremely elusive and rare event. The installation is being show in Moscow for the first time, It was presented in prototype on the exhibitions of nominees at Nova Art Contest in Saint Petersburg, and in present complete condition it was exhibited at Zarya Center for Conemporary in Vladivostok, relatively near to the place that served as starting point to the project.

“This project involves some of what I find the most interesting trends in the sphere of technological art: natural and artificial electromagnetism, work with sound, robotic automatized systems, geology and astrophysics., – Dmitry Morozov explains, – Each of these aspects are not only a means for reaching a unified artistic expression, but also a powerful medium, in and of themselves, forming a synergy of individual elements within the work.”

The exhibition will also include new objects Floating point number, Phason и Drop, exploring sound, light, how one can be transformed into another and all the possible means man has of mastering the world around him.
