Lost in abstraction

Confronted with contemporary art, the viewer often does not know where to look first and what to "see", how to assess how well the work is done. The usual "seemingly/unlikely" criteria stop working, and the viewer gets lost with the work one by one. The feeling of confusion, disorientation leads to speculations about color, unusual composition and hidden symbols. Not least, however, abstraction is a reference to the world of emotion. It is necessary to forget about the compulsive desire to analyze and draw parallels, to realize their emotions and physical sensations: irritation fr om the bright color, the desire to touch a particularly dense swab. Abstract painting allows you to feel the very nature of creativity: to live together with the artist a complex emotional rise, the physical contact between the paint and the surface of the picture.
Venera More is a young artist fr om Essentuki, Stavropol Territory. Her works - a dispute of complex background - are usually a gradient of two bright "acid" colors - and an active swab that breaks up into several composite colors, but does not hide its nature, preserving the traces of brush and physical effort. This interaction, which does not generate interpenetration, can cause the viewer a feeling of anxiety, emotional explosion or even hysteria. At the same time, the figurative nature of the artist's individual works harmonizes the inner rhythm of the works, making them more contemplative.

The works of Inna Stubbs, whose childhood took place in Khanty-Mansiysk, on the contrary, are filled with meditative observation of northern nature. Muted colors and smooth lines hypnotize the viewer, immersing him in the unsteady, flowing world of the artist's works. The objects and phenomena stated in the titles do not give a clear understanding of what is happening on the canvas, but rather direct the viewer's inner feelings through associations.

Viktor Nazarov came to the art world from the advertising sphere. During his work in it, the author was fascinated by the process of perception of advertising text and illustrations by the viewer. Later he transferred his interest to his art. Creating the works, Viktor Nazarov does not define a specific angle to look at them. The artist devoted a lot of time to studying how the human imagination works: so, the Nazarov's viewer becomes a participant in the creative process and is able to decide for himself how to arrange the picture. Just as in childhood we looked at the clouds in the sky and imagined a great number of figures, Viktor Nazarov invites everyone to think for themselves what is presented in his works.

Biographies of artists

Venera More
Born in 1990 in the city of Essentuki. Graduated from the art school, wh ere she studied academic drawing. In 2013, she received a degree in architecture from the Academy of Architecture and Arts of the Southern Federal University. For a long time she worked in the field of architecture, in 2017 began her way in art. Her works are in private collections in Russia and abroad. Works of Venus Moore are a clash of unrestraint and moderation. The carefree wide strokes, "flying" on the surface of the canvas, drops of saturated, neon colors convey an amazing movement.

Inna Stubbs
Born in 1977 in Khanty-Mansiysk. She grew up surrounded by the harsh harmony of nature of the Russian North, which had a profound impact on the artist's perception of aesthetics and beauty. She has been painting since her early childhood, but decided to link her professional destiny with television journalism. After graduating from Lomonosov Moscow State University, she worked as a presenter on federal TV channels in Russia. The first work - "My Northern City" - Inna wrote in 2017. Abstraction for Inna Stubbs is a way of communicating with the world. Numerous layers of oil, acrylic games, intricacies of lines and colors on canvas are encoded with an emotional message that Inna conveys through painting. Inna Stubbs' works are in private collections in Russia, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Viktor Nazarov

Born in 1986 in Berlin. Graduated from the Moscow International Higher Business School MIRBIS (specializing in International Trade). For 7 years Viktor Nazarov worked in international advertising agencies, wh ere he became involved in the study of image perception. From 2016 to 2019, the artist created more than 70 large-format works. An important place in his works is occupied by the viewer - he allows him to decide on his own how the work will be located. Since 2018, the artist has been developing a wall mechanism that allows the viewer to turn the painting over without taking it off.
